Description

Question, how are the background images handled?

If we use the same image/pattern for different MUI object,
will it be reused, or each one will consume extra memory.

If so, maybe it's good to track the same images so that they
do not get multiplied in ram and thus save some ram (a lot with larger true-colour images).

MUI's image cache does in no way distinguish between the individual usage on an images. It doesn't matter if an image is used as a background or as a checkmark image.

However, the cache does distinguish between different paths to the same image, i.e. RAM:T/image.png vs. T:image.png with T: being assigned to RAM:T. In this case the same image will end up twice in the case. As long as unique path specifications to each image are used the image will be cached only once. This is how MUI's image cache has always behaved.
