#130 closed bug (fixed)

Modern colour selector

Description

Is it looking correct ?

I think the red gadgets in top right are wrong…

And can we have this window (at least) open with the minimum size colour wheel by default until some other solution is offered for slow top powered real machines?

As so often you are again omitting the usual required stuff:

  1. what color would you expect?
  2. how did you get this possibly wrong colors?

And again you are mixing up unrelated things. Stop it or any further request by you will be ignored. It doesn't matter how big the initial size of an object is as long as it fits on the screen.

In 4360:

  • Colorring.c: lowered the default size from 350 pixels to 300 pixels. This refs #130.

Well, at least two different colours (like under OS4)
both show the gradients start and stop colours

Size of this gadget matters a lot on the classic, the bigger it is the longer it takes to open. On 80 Mips 060 in RTG it takes up to 10 seconds for initial display. And around 6 for every new one.

Doing the same in UAE with cycle exact emulation is also terribly slow.

And yes, I know you love tickets, so we will multiply them in future.

Do you get wrong colored buttons every time or did this happen just once? And which program was used to open the color selection? MUI prefs or any other program?

I think I found a situation in which MUI could draw the sample buttons using a pen without having allocated one before. Please reopen this ticket in case the issue happens again after the next nightly build.

Well, it is mid grey colour now, which is better then some odd one.
But it's not updating to any changes either.

And yes, it's MUI prefs (in this case main button colour)

Small update. It works in 8bit RTG, but not in 15/16/24 bits RTG (OS3.9/P96).

Replying to Michael:

Absolutely no problem here. Neither on truecolor screens nor on colormapped screens (both native and RTG). Both sample buttons in the top right corner are updated upon every change of the color ring.

But please note that on AmigaOS3 gradients on 8bit screens will never work as you might expect it. This only works on AmigaOS4. For AmigaOS3 a pen in the middle of the two gradient colors will be used instead. The true gradient will be drawn on truecolor screens only. As such the gradient sample buttons (those for selecting the gradient type, i.e. horizontal or vertical) will show *NO* gradient on 8bit screens.

In case you are talking about something else I have no clue what that should be.

Seems to be working now under P96 in 8 and 15+ bits. Have not tested CGX yet.

And CGX seems to be ok too.
